It’s no exaggeration when we say that the Jetway Communications team had a very busy time at the 2024 Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg this year! As the biggest industry event of the year for most of the companies we represent, managing everyone’s diaries was a formidable challenge, but we did it! Here’s a round-up of our most exciting activities at the show.
Jetway Communications founder Maryann Simson had the busiest schedule of all, moderating three panel sessions throughout the week as well as hosting the Crystal Cabin Awards, the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” which took place during a lavish ceremony at the beautiful Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.
First, she led a session on “Fighting Fraud in the Cabin” in the Taste of Travel Theatre at the World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE). During the panel, Martin Cunnison, Business Development Director for AirFi LEO at AirFi; Livia Vité, CCO at Perseuss; and Manuel Hübschmann, Retail inMotion’s Head of Retail for Europe, discussed how airlines can put a stop to the loss of in-flight sales due to counterfeit credit cards or chargeback fraud, for example.
Next, it was straight onto a panel session as part of the CabinSpace Live stage line-up produced by Inflight magazine. Titled “New Era: The Fascinating Future of the Aircraft Cabin,” Maryann guided a discussion between Ralph Wagner, Co-founder and CEO at Axinom; Duncan Jackson, CEO at FlightPath3D; and Burrana’s VP Customer Experience David Pook, about the most exciting onboard concepts and products passengers can look forward to in the near future.
Maryann was back on the CabinSpace Live stage the day after the Crystal Cabin Awards to guide delegates through the presentations of all the previous evening’s award winners and could be found later that evening partying up at a fantastic customer dinner with her old friends at WESSCO International.
The inflight fraud panel session was brilliantly complimented by an editorial Jetway secured in the official 2024 AIX Show Catalogue on the same topic, which helped to generate a steady drumbeat around the topic, which is an important focus for AirFi this year. It was an added bonus that the AirFi box, the basis of the company’s complimentary products and services, was featured on the front cover! Another client also secured an editorial in the catalogue, focusing on the use of AI-powered tools to improve passenger experiences.
Elsewhere, we managed the distribution of three press releases throughout the week, which were both available as part of AIX’s online press pack and sent individually to both attending media as well as other relevant parties. We’re continuing to gather coverage for our official monitoring reports, but we were delighted by the interest shown in our clients’ news by FlightGlobal, the official media partners of the show, and the broader industry reception to our PRs across the web and on social media.
Jetway team-member Ari Magnusson is a fantastic photographer whose work has already been featured on the cover of and within both APEX Experience magazine and Air Canada’s EnRoute in-flight publication.
So, we were delighted to be able to offer his professional photography services to three clients at the show. Ari lugged his two cameras and myriad accessories across long days to capture executive headshots, panel discussions, cocktail parties and more. Take a look at the few of the photos in the gallery below – we think the results speak for themselves!
Needless to say, being surrounded by the latest and greatest people and products in the aircraft interiors industry provided lots of food for thought for us moving forward, and we’re excited to plan some of the themes and ideas we came across into our clients’ campaigns moving forward. We loved hearing about the newest developments in accessibility, migration to the cloud, artificial intelligence and more.
From distributing press releases to attending client press briefings with journalists, photographing booths and cocktail parties, keeping social media accounts updated, hosting panels and awards and a million other little things – we had a super busy and exciting week… and we can’t wait to do it again in 2025. Until next time, Hamburg!
