Three Awards in One Day

Client Background

Airline technology provider AirFi supplies carriers with a portfolio of entertainment, retail and connectivity solutions aimed at executing its concept of a “Mall in the Sky,” where passengers can watch movies, visit the arcade or food court, book a holiday and more.

The Challenge

Without a dedicated marketing person in-house and busy executing on its largest airline contract to date, AirFi was struggling to generate and organise the necessary assets to submit entries for numerous prestigious awards ceremonies taking place at the 2023 Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg, the biggest annual event for the passenger experience industry.

Jetway’s Strategy

Industry Research:

Jetway conducted extensive research into the different awards submissions processes to build a clear picture of what was required to enter each one.

01
Client Research:

We worked with staff across AirFi’s business (from sales to engineering) to gather the information required for the submissions. The Crystal Cabin Award (CCA) submission for AirFi LEO (AirFi’s connectivity solution) was the most complex, requiring information on patents, industry benchmarking with other similar products and more.

02
Copywriting and Design:

Jetway created compelling content in various formats including video and a detailed brochure. The CCAs required both private submission for judges and a press pack about the entry to be distributed to the media.

03
Press Releases and Editorial:

We crafted PR and social text that covered every possible outcome across the awards (whether AirFi won one, two or all three of those it entered).

04
On-site Support:

Jetway was on the ground in Hamburg ready to secure great imagery of the collection of any awards during the ceremonies or of the trophies with the AirFi staff on-stand, and to handle any resulting media requests.

The Result

  • Three out of three award wins for AirFi, including a prestigious Crystal Cabin Award, known as “The Oscars” of the aviation industry
  • Thorough news coverage in numerous respected B2B publications and their socials. We logged 29 pieces of coverage with an estimated 65,000 views.
  • This ultimately led to exciting editorial coverage in the weeks and months following the event, including this interview with Runway Girl Network’s Mary Kirby.
  • The generation of great marketing collateral (both copy and
images) that can be used until AIX 2024. · A very personal message of gratitude from the client that garnered great visibility for both Jetway and AirFi on LinkedIn.

Conclusion

Jetway’s thorough research and client knowledge resulted in a hat-trick of awards, positioning AirFi as an industry leader in the IFEC and ancillary revenues space and generating a massive bump in its brand awareness as a result.
